Our Master’s program in design

Overall organisation

 

 

First semester:
internship

 

Students enrolled in the Cross-Cultural Design Program are required to do a one-semester internship (4 to six months) in a agency or a company based in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. The intern will work as a junior designer and be responsible for a project or for a part of a project. The semester start in September.

Second semester:
projects related to the topic of the program (42 hours – 30 ECTS credits)

Courses in methodology and mastering of economical, social and cultural aspects that will help students manage complex design projects.

The topic of the final degree project is chosen and defined by the students themselves and must address an issue related to designing for the Chinese market.

 

Curriculum:

a long-term practical project and a shorter prospective project, both conducted via an industrial partnership

seminars (creativity, eco-design, methodology, innovation and design, prospective project management)

English and Chinese lessons

competition: Students have to participate in an international design competition during the semester

first step of the final-year project: students have to develop a subject, describe the associated context, and determine the parameters of studies

 

Third semester: 
final degree project

Follow-up and completion of the final degree project, a long-term assignment that should bring together all the professional skills acquired. It can be done via a partnership with a company and/or the research laboratory of a partner university.

The students’ work is supervised through specific workshops under the direction of a designer/advisor, complemented with a number of one-session seminars conducted by design professionals.

Students enrolled in the Cross-Cultural Design Program will be offered English and Chinese lessons.

 

Fourth semester: 
internship

4 to 6-month internship in a French or foreign agency or company based in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. Interns work as junior designers and are responsible for a project or a part of a project. The intern will work as a junior designer and be responsible for a project or for a part of a project.
